Been SUPER busy working, and looking for a better/higher paying job. Had real good luck searching, and got three really promising offers.

Well.....couldn't take the bite in the wallet the pickup was causing by driving her 46 miles a day, so i bought another vehicle that gets better mileage to drive back and forth.

I know it might offend some "purists", but i bought an 86 Isuzu Trooper II for 800 bucks. It had 2 nearly new, and 2 new Bridgestone Dueler Revo's that were prob worth 400 bucks alone. After new shocks (still had the original ones on it), new fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor, plugs and wires, and fixing several vacuum lines.....she's getting about 22 mpg.

And I'm really impressed with the capability this thing has offroad. I've been told I can fit up to 33" tires with NO lift! Not sure I'll ever go that big, but 31x10.5's are definitely in the near future.

Ok.....so let the import bashing begin.

None from me. I always liked the early versions of the rigs, as they seemed to be built in the bare bones, utility fashion much like the rigs we love. After the popularity of the SUV's exploded in the 90's and they restyled them to be more luxurious, I became disenchanted with them.

I agree, the Trooper does have a lot of the same utilitarian type features as the early Scouts.

As a bonus.........parts are WAY easier to find for it!

no bashing from me either, Im about to get a new daily driver as well, I get decent millage out of the Scout but dont like putting all the wear and tear on it so Im going to get a Cummins powered Dodge about 10 more mpg, the ability to tow other Scouts and much better driveability

Most but not all of the folks here have "other" Daily drivers.

So enjoy the new ride:D

I drive a 4 door Honda Civic Si as a daily driver. I have a love hate style relationship with. Good car but Honda has taken the Civic away from its roots in the processes of bean counting.

I also have to confess to liking the Land Rover Defender and the Mercedes G-wagen for the utilitarian styling although the Mercedes has gotten carried away like the trooper with too much luxury.
