I need some engine gaskets to finish my motor swap and am having trouble finding anywhere that keeps ANY IH gaskets in stock...... do you guys order from somewhere that has better than a 5 day turnaround?

I haven't used them myself but Xtreme 4x4 says Northern auto keeps complete kits.

Matt,
How is that swap going. Did you tear my motor down? How did it look?

You can barely see in the picture but it says the Clutch was assembled 10/10/90 so I know the clutch was replaced some point after that...

All in all the motor looks to be in really good shape for being 30yrs old, though really black so it may have gotten hot at some point. I was really surprised at the fact that everything is still IH red. Looks like 20yrs of gunk and grease preserved the original engine paint! It spun really freely when i was removing the clutch so that made me really happy. I think at this point i need to switch to a S800 oilpan and get a new starter and water pump.... then a S800 intake and I might rebuild the carb that came with this motor and then drop it in, that is if i can get gaskets for the intake, exhaust, valve cover and oilpan.

Anyone have any advice for anything else i need to consider doing? I thought about trying to flush the coolant areas in the block, but not sure how to go about that. I will look for any damage in the bottom end when i replace the pan.

IMHO, Best thing you can do is decide what you need and spend the time to shop it. Determine if it is available from non-IH specific parts vendors and save the IH peculiar items for the many Vendors listed in the Machine shop here.
Rock Auto has a good cross-referencs as well as several threads within BP.
Once you get a cross-reference to a Felpro or Gates type part number, you're off to O'reilly or Advanced Auto, but keep in mind, these parts stores are only as good as the people they hire behind the counter. If you're lucky enough to find someone who shares your enthusiasm, stick with them. If all else fails, ask here, but after you peruse the threads using the search feature. I got every gasket & seal I have thru O'reilly, NAPA or Advance Auto, usually within the same 2 to 5 days, but no shipping, (most w/i 2 days).
If it's something I've done before, I keep pretty good notes and will gladly share anytime.
You will be amazed how much time, money and anguish you will save! Just my $.02 :D
Happy hunting! :punk:
