I know its a little early, but I am getting a little excited for the best weekend of the year!
Who here is planning on going to the Nats?
Paul Weeks and I plan on heading down thursday after work. Him in his SSII and me in my comanche.
Any one else planning on getting an early start, we meet in Dundee.

I'm going to miss it this year but I am stoked about the Red Power Roundup this weekend .
It's just down the road from me in Madison,Wi.
Funny, I have seen very little mention of it on the planet?

Me of course, have the swap spot reserved and I'm getting the Traveler I picked up in MI right before the garage fire up and running. I think once I get decent internet (can't upload on this, another outfit was just out and I can get high speed, woo hoo!) I'll post some pics and a thread on it, although 'rebuild' or 'restore' is taking it WAY too far. It's more of a 'refurb' to make it safe and driveable; it's a basically rust free California truck, so body wise it doesn't need much, but it's been sitting for a few years and needs to be updated and serviced. It has original paint, which I'm leaving as is- it's giong to get sold during or after Nats, and I want the buyer to see what they're getting, that there is no bondo or patch panels and it's all solid. It's been fun to do Scout work instead of the stuff on my pickup, my wife's car, my daughter's two cars.....

We'll be going down on Thursday, be there all three days, pull out late Sunday morning. Hopefully I can scrounge up enough parts to pay for part of the motel and the swap spot anyway!

There will be several of us at the Hampton Inn as it's ground zero for the IH bargeque Saturday night. Nick, myself, Greg Terrill and possibly Tony Mohammed will be there. Tim G., you guys usually camp out don't you?
Clintard, you'll be happy you went. It's a blast.

Hampton as well, it was as good a deal as anywhere else in town, and like Paul said, you're at the center of everything. Check out the thread in the 'Events' forum, a block of rooms were reserved at the Hampton, all you have to do is tell them or enter the group code given in the thread. I think there might be a few still available....

Ill probably take the cheap out and rock the tent once again... Buck Creek State park is about 2 miles from the fairgrounds.... its a little ways from the hotel party.. but its a quality camp ground..

I'm trying to figure out a way to go...It's my son's birthday weekend, and we have tickets for the School Bus Figure 8 races at Flat Rock for Saturday night, and Grandma (former Scout owner :D) will be in town from PA. I'm not sure if we could leave early on Sat. and be back in time, or if we should try for early Sunday. What time does everything start closing up on Sunday? I won't be going through the swap area...primarily the For Sale corral, Scout show area, and the Showcase Vehicles for this year.

Also, any recommendations on the route to get there from the Detroit side of MI? Google maps is saying I-75 S then US-68 to I-70. Is this faster than shooting all the way down I-75 to I-70?

We are going, still working out which of the trucks we are taking. Looking forwards to seeing some of you there. Also remember that there is a BBQ/Cookout in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn on Saturday evening I believe, its free but they take donations to help put it on every year, and its somewhat sponsored by the Triple Diamond Four Wheelers. Good times, and you get to meet a lot of people you don't get to see but at this gathering. Look us up, we will likely either have one of our '79 Travelers, or the T'all. Darren, I look forwards to meeting up with you and see what your vehicle(s) progress's are.

Tim -

sorry to hear about the work thing - that really blows - having been there myself and now working at a job I can tolerate at least, I just keep repeating the mantra "at least I'm working, at least I'm working".

Hope you find something even better soon!

Scott, Nick and I take I-75 to Findley,OH, catch 68 to I-70. That's a nice drive on 68. Going 75 the whole way will be quicker for you depending on what you're driving. My SSII has a 4cyl with 4.09's so it's not really freeway friendly.

Thanks Paul. We would be taking a highway friendly vehicle (probably the minivan) so I75 it is.

Darren, what are you bringing this year. Rick, I thought Dennis and Darren were going to fix your power steering pump. You MUST be a Buckeye fan to miss out on the barbeque/party in the parking lot. I won't be going in till after midnight.

they both where great with helping me with parts, money is really tight to even go this year, driving the scout will cost me alot more, i could probally drive it, but also my mom in ohio is watching my girls while im there so they would have to ride in the scout for a hour over there and the scouts not really kid seat friendly yet, i disappointed my self to not be taking one but........ yeap big buckeye fan i might be down early if they play USC like they just played Navy....

Yes I was fully expecting them Buckeyes to choke as usual but they couldn't even finish doing that properly.

yeah stu not looking good for my buckeyes, i was telling one of my buddies that i think that any team in the big ten will have to dominate there opponent every week to be taken serious. Maybe they will turn it around against USC but it looks like they have a protection problem, Navy got way too much pressure and penetration...

I would say you are right, the Navy DTs and DEs are like 245#, when them Buckeyes run into legitimately big men it could be curtains.

Well, it was a blast last weekend. Hope everyone had a safe trip there and back. Had a pesky exhaust problem myself, nothing major, just annoying. No problems there and back. It was nice to see everyone down there, can't wait for next year.
