I'm sorry Fred, it doesn't count as running and "driving" if you only go7':nono:

actually no pics have changed. I am going to pick up a M/C today and I will pull the wheels so I can check the wheel cylinders to see if they are 1" or 7/8"
I was out of town the last 2 days for a funeral so I need to get back on it soon

if truck has sat for some time i would urge you to replace every part of brake system. as the fluid eats away at the system as it sits and draws in water resting internal parts. if you go all out for any section of a build this should be it. please guys don't skimp on your brakes. at the least replace all 4 wheels and flex lines. with new mc and a good bleed job. don't for get to bench bleed to save your leg.

X2
Once your'e replacing the master cylinder, you might as well do the wheel cylinders, brake lines, everything
The remanned booster/master cylinder is pretty decent for the money or do the junkyard hydroboost
The factory setup is pretty good under normal driving conditions but I think an upgrade is in order for any more "hardcore" wheeling
That would make a damn good project for a wrenchday
Everyone needs to know how to do their brake system and alot don't
It isn't any real great mystery but if you haven't done it, it seems to be

Once I install the rear brakes the only thing that is not new are the rear drums and the proportioning valve. That's about $300 I can't swing just yet. Would it be okay to thoroughly flush the P/V? I'll know the shape of my rear drums after Easter weekend and decide then, maybe get them turned. Paul, you can attest that my old front rotors were in good shape, I just wanted the drilled & routed zinc plated ones. I agree about the importance of the brakes, but is there a re-build for the P/V, rather than paying full price?:cornfused:

I've got them in a bag on my workbench and couldn't make them fit when I replaced everything on the front wheels. All shame aside, I wanna get this right, WTFO:cornfused:

hard to anwser on the p/v. it can be cleaned rebuilt on some. have to check what you have. or find one that is and scrap yard it, then rebuild. as for clips they do what they say anti rattle other than making noise helps prevent excessive wear on pads by holding them in steady. won't see a huge difference. but will wear more even with the clips. no real safety issue.

Yeah, you're old rotors are still good
They aren't as pretty as your new bling ones lol
The proporting valve is a hard part to come by
I believe there probably are people on this board that have the knowledge to rebuild them but they pretty much work or they don't
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
You can find another for a back up for cheap
Clean it up and slap it on
