I was wondering if there was anyway to make these trucks with an automatic transmission. I think i have the SD220 motor but not exactly sure i just know it is an inline 6 and i want to make it an automatic for my wife.

Sure, just use the same parts IH did when they built them with automatics :)

The transmission is the same basic Borg-Warner unit that was used behind the V-8's, as is the torque converter. AFAIK there are 3 items specific to the 6 cylinder that you'll need; 1)the 'full circle' style cast adapter plate that bolts to the block and contains *both* the starter hole in the right spot and the 'universal' IH round bolt pattern for the clutch or converter housing. 2) the 6 cylinder converter housing with the starter clearance 'bump' in the correct location. 3) the 6 cylinder flex plate(I don't believe there is any flex plate spacer in this application).

Any other route that this and you'll be 'inventing' :D
