I have a 4 speed from an A100, 1958 thats a T-98. I went to my parts guy to see how much the clutch, pilot bearing, thrust and disk would be. In the parts book there were a few options that I didn't understand.

First one said all except B,BC and C
Second said (opt)
Third said 12" type
and I forgot what the fourth said.

All had different numbers.?

I need a clutch for my 1958 A-120 or basically a clutch for a T-98 of that same year.
Is it good to get the biggest clutch I can for it or will this kill my legs 4x4ing?

Thanks for any info.

I'm inclined to say 12" if you can but IH put 11" in a lot of applications.

IH fitted an 11" in my B140 behind the BD264. This is a truck definitely intended for offroad use and abuse.

My '73 1210 Travelall(3/4 ton) has the HD 11" clutch, the heaviest duty of the the three available according to the owners manual.

No help here on exactly what you need.

Rick,

Like Ken, I don't think you need to get anything bigger than an 11" clutch for what you have there. An A100 isn't going to be towing or hauling anything big enough to warrant a huge clutch.

Just replace yours with exactly what is in there now. No sense in upgrading unless you are wanting to do something extreme with the truck.

Keep on Binderin',

John,
The clutch is on my a120 4x4. I believe I can get an 11" Rockford, which is the better clutch than the Dana. Talked to jim grammer and I should be looking for a clutch with constant pressure on the 'fingers.' If there's not then you have a constant chattering except when you depress it. My brother had his shipped to L.A. and rebuilt for less than what napa wanted and my dealer price for everything (clutch/disk/bearing) came to around $200 at carquest. I'm just trying to find out what their parts book numbers mean!

I am sorry that I somehow misunderstood you.
