Spoke to Mitch Neal the other day and he mentioned something about a 350 chevy swap for the 67 scout. Is that an easy swap or are we still into changing the engine compartment, motor mounts, etc Thanks George

 It will be pricey. The motor mounts will need to be changed to accept the small block GM engine. Not sure about the room as far as fitment goes, there will also have to be an adapter to mate the small block to the IH tranny, unless you use the GM running gear then again fitment and more fabbing to get it in the frame rails. What is the core purpose of using a GM engine in the Scout?. It can and has been done, Advanced Adapters make the plates to mate about any combination to each other but they aint cheap.

George,

It is going to require some modifications, specifically you will need to change motor mounts for the engine, and the radiator to allow for the cooling of the bigger engine. I would probably use a GM Tranny with overdrive if you go automatic, and adapt a dana 20 to that with Advanced Adaptors kit. I think past that, it is according to how far you want to go with it, you could add fuel injection or what ever, but that is the worst of it. Personally, I think you should at least wait until you get it on the road and drive it with the 4cyl. You might like it.
