Im 17 and I have a 1962 Scout that i have been working on and Im to the point I want to lift it. WHile i know alot about lift options and ways of lifting, I just dont know enough to start getting stuff to do it.

Im working with a stock scout with 31" tires on it. I have run my 31's on my dads 1965 Scout and They rub alot. From my basic knowledge, and some talking to people I have found that most likely a 2.5 to 3 inch lift will fix most of the rubbing. And will help with the tires rubbing on turns. Im not looking to build some crazy off roader I just want something with clearance and medium function. and a moderately aggresive look. I dont want to have change my drive shaft lengths or dump alot of money into the lift seeing as Im 17 and trying to save for college as well as build this Scout for fun. Also I dont want to do a body lift. Id like to avoid a body lift.

I have read all kinds of ways of doing it but I need help deciding on the least expensive and easiest way of getting the little bit of lift i want and a good safe way to do it not some cobbled togather rickety lift. Also what kind of things I will need to do it or what i will need for someone else to do it.

Any advice from some one whos done it and can give me some good detailed advice that would be great. Im trying to learn as much as I can so any advice will hope. Im asking for a lift kit or at least the parts Ill need or work done that I cant do on my own for christmas .... so any help I can get would be great thanks.

Barrett

Heres a picture of my scout when i first got it home alot of work and parts have been put back on since but just an Idea of what im working with and tires and all hope it helps with any advice thanks.

Will add a leafs say from like Mr. Scout give the needed amount of lift for 31's to clear?
That may be the cheapest and easiest route if they do. It will also give you a chance to replace the bushings if you havnt already.

Yes I was just reading about the Mr Scout springs I have the same question is there anyone who makes a 2.5 inch lift spring pack ? Because i see the kits are super expensive and if I just could get a set of 2.5 inch lift springs I can get all the shocks and bushings my self and u bolts as well ?

The 4" CJ lift will only net you about 2.5" on the Scout since it is heavier than the CJ. There isn't a lift that I know of that is Scout specific for the early ones. Most add-a-leafs will give you an inch or so. If your body bushings are toast you can change those and net another 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.
